Volumes - Until the End
Early Spike Jonze, Darren Aranofsky, and skate videos were all references for my pitch to Fearless Records to direct the music video for “Until the End,” the single for the LA djent / metalcore band VOLUMES. For color, I thought of the green-ish tint of films 90s films like Fight Club and The Matrix.
We also rigged the camera to a snorricam, attached it to the end of a length of PVC pipe, and fixed it to the top of two RC cars that we drove around the band to achieve some bizarre, kinetic angles that cut nicely with the more composed footage from our Arri Alexa.
What results is a highly visual and intentionally non-narrative video, which felt like a challenge to me given my background’s primarily in screenwriting. I’m super happy with the result.
